Mountains (Alaska Range)

   

         
       Most of the territory is covered by mountains. Alaska Range is 1000 km south of Alaska, in the Pacific zone Cordillera of North America. Its height is 6193 m and Mount McKinley is the highest peak in North America. The slopes are steep, dissected. The southern slopes are covered with spruce forests up to 800 m and above - the eternal snow and glaciers, on the northern, drier slopes - the mountain tundra. Along the northwest coast one can find many picturesque lakes. It’s grizzlies’ lovely place! They catch fish in the lakes.

      Ski enthusiasts will discover a huge number of winter sports centers and professionally groomed ski trails and runs. Denali is an ideal ski resort und skiing possible. The main ports are Seward, Prince-Rupert. The native people even call Alaska “Seward’s Ice-box”, because it’s a very snowy territory. Other cities are famous for the great number of tow bars and the ski tunnel, so that experienced skiers go on ski safaris. And everywhere around you can see glaciers, because it is Alaska! There are more than 100,000 glaciers in Alaska. You can combine skiing with hiking that make people always feel younger and healthier. Every trail is inviting but especially you will be overwhelmed by Alaska Range, which is very popular among hikers. No doubt, Alaska can be an adventure of some kind.
